What would you do if you were given 1,440 dollars every 24 hours? Most people would purchase their “dream car” or their “dream house”. Here’s the twist, what if you were given $1,400 dollars every 24 hours but every minute, you lose a dollar. Now, you would probably do whatever you can to expend every dollar you receive and consider each minute as a dollar lost.

You are given 1,440 minutes of time every day. The single most important part of this article is shifting your mindset when it comes to time and productivity. Shift your mindset and value the minute more than a dollar. Money is lost, but you can make money back again. Unfortunately, you can’t lose time and go back and earn more of it back.
Once you start viewing time as an asset; you’ll find yourself investing your minutes directly to benefit yourself. For example, you’ll become conscious of the time you spend on bed watching the next episode of “Friends”. After this epiphany, you’ll find yourself “spending that $45” you would have spent to watch that episode and instead doing something like reading an article from the Wall Street Journal.
My Personal Takeaways of Viewing Every Minute Lost
I feel the best when I have a task at hand and accomplish that task in an effective and accurate manner.
The effectiveness of having a set window of time to diffuse myself physically or mentally. Often times, before this challenge, I would find myself lying in bed for hours at a time without knowing when exactly to get up. After having a set window of rest, I found myself exponentially more productive.
20-minute challenge:
I invite you to gather 20 minutes, every day out of your schedule this week. Use this time to tackle a new book, read a few articles, learn a new instrument, or anything that would be an investment to yourself in the future.
Finally, depending on when you are reading this article; how are you going to spend the rest of the “money” you were given today? How would your life change if every day you gave time more of your attention and truly felt your minutes “ticking” away?
